ARDNA (OUR LAND)

Touring Performance 2022

DIRECTOR

A unique colaboration between creatives Aseel Tayah, who moved to Australia in 2013, and Jason Tamiru from Yorta Yorta country, Ardna (Arabic for "our land") is a storytelling and dance performance exploring physical connection to land.

Drawing on both lead artists' relationships to Country, the work invites us to interrogate and reflect on our connection to land and place through a series of dances, songs, and other stories from both middle eastern and Indigenous Australia.

I had the chance to direct the development of the work that toured schools in regional Victoria as a part of Regional Arts Victoria’s Arts and Education Program in June 2022.

I acknowledge the Wurundjeri people as the traditional owners of the land where I work and live. I pay my respects to Elders past and present. I celebrate the stories, culture and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders of all communities who also work and live on this land.
