Maddy is staying with her Grandpa while her Mother is in hospital. One night while she’s sleeping, Grandpa gets a call from his daughter to tell him that her cancer has returned. The next day Grandpa takes Maddy fishing to try and take her mind of things. After catching her first fish, Grandpa tries to use the opportunity to teach Maddy about life, death and the importance of staying strong.

This short won Best Drama for the September edition of the Changing Faces International Film Festival and will go on to compete for the annual prize in November 2021.

I acknowledge the Wurundjeri people as the traditional owners of the land where I work and live. I pay my respects to Elders past and present. I celebrate the stories, culture and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders of all communities who also work and live on this land.
